hi elena and welcome to  GC

i just have to ask this ... do you not find it ironical amusing that your post above is in english and those who already speak english can read it ...as opposed to those you assumingly want to target?

even more amusing ... most english IS greek but with a different pronunciation

smiley-face-poke.gif

(just messing with you)

:)

Hi,

My English looks like it's better than yours.

However I can teach you Greek in exchange for intercourse, if you're up for that.

I just want to learn how to speak Greek.
eyoismos - you could teach me Greek, I can teach you English as "ironical amusing" is incorrect. Yes I am aware that Greek was the first complete language and English has many words that originated from Greece. But thanks for your comment.
Whooshka- I believe you are on the wrong site, you may have better luck at a dating site.

Hey Elena, do you have a smart phone ? There are a few great apps (through iTunes - not sure about Samsung etc) that may be beneficial to you.

You can also find a greek dictionary that's pocket sized but personally don't think they'd be beneficial as you can't hear phonetically how to say things.

Wish I had some time to be able to help you out but best of luck in your learnings :)

he he he he

you DO realize that i am just messing with you, right? or did the "subtle hint" fly way over your head ?

and yes , i know its supposed to be "ironically amusing" ...but when the spellcheck fails, i make out that its a trap for grammar nazis to have a wobbly, much to my amusement (speaking of which ... yiota ...you disappoint me ...you didnt see that one - hahahahha -  :) )

as for "English has many words that originated from Greece" ... the word "many" is a complete understatement ....hell.... so many words credited to latin roots, let alone one of its derivatives (french, as in norman), if one looks deeper, more often than not, ancient greek is the real root - or to put it differently .... look at "old english" or anglo-saxon... and if dare you to understand anything (if you are not a linguist, that is)

eg

Fæder ūre þū þe eart on heofonum
Sī þīn nama ġehālgod
Tōbecume þīn rīċe
ġewurþe þīn willa, on eorðan swā swā on heofonum
Ūre ġedæġhwāmlīcan hlāf syle ūs tō dæġ
and forġyf ūs ūre gyltas, swā swā wē forġyfað ūrum gyltendum
And ne ġelǣd þū ūs on costnunge, ac ālȳs ūs of yfele
Sōþlīċe

(hint: its the lords prayer)

THAT is how much modern english is ...well.... english

but in all seriousness, pm me with an email address and i will send you a whole course as attachments ... but be warned ... its massive

out of curiosity elena ..... whats your "background" ?

and why do you want to learn greek?

i am not knocking it.... far from it ... i am actually kinda proud of it that you do (call it a greek pride thing)... but curiosity always gets the better of me

and a myriad reasons and theories flood my senses as to why

eyoismos I knew you were joking. I was also joking I am Greek but I never learnt. I lived there for 1 year but I was only speaking English. I like it better in Greece the lifestyle if you can email me that would be so great.
And whooshka I was joking but you left yourself open for a quick stab with that comment you made.
