Good morning from Greece,

this is a site for Greeks living in Australia and own land in Greece...

- Locate your plots

- Monitor and have technical reports (with photographs) of the current condition of the land.

- Keep the land safe from trespassing, encroachments or adverse possession, by periodic inspections from Land Surveyor Engineers

- Κeep yiayia and pappou satisfied that you are taking care of your property in Greece... ;)

This idea came about after helping our own relatives who live in Australia. Please support our efforts in working with Greeks abroad!

i am NOT debating that you can and probably do provide an invaluable service to the greeks of the diaspora

but when i hear words like "Κeep yiayia and pappou satisfied...." and "Please support our efforts...." and then charging a fee, the hair at the back of my neck stand up

There is message here that has to get across. How it is done, is not as important. People need to care about their land/property, otherwise they will loose it. By law in Greece. Lots and lots of cases. How many Greek people in Australia are aware of this ?

i beg to differ. how it is down has everything to do with it.

one has only to look at, for example, how many times, the greeks in the diaspora have been screwed by the "homeboys", and even i dare to say have a snobbish contempt towards us.

and i personally am ont in australia, but in another continent all together. BUT i have experienced the shocking "welcome to greece" mentality.

and now the worse part is ....."They", back home, now need us, and all of a sudden are trying to kiss our asses.

just rememember the saying, once bitten twice shy

so have that in mind about "how that is done is not as important"

AGAIN.... i am not criticizing the service you give, for it is sorely needed, AND it is invaulable a service - god knows how many nned some help

but treating us like "amerikanakia" as the saying goes .......

and the arguments like "People need to care about their land/property, otherwise they will loose it. By law in Greece" shown distinct ignorance of the reality elsewhere around the world. do you honestly think it is any different anywhere else?

choose you words a lot more wisely. for "we" have been bitten once too often

apart form that .... i wish you with all my heart all the best in your endeavors.....for we all need your services. just dont treat us like .....how shall i put it ? ..... "peasants" perhaps?

Way different than ANYWHERE in the world. Again, lots and lots of cases, contrary to other countries where the law protects strongly the first owner.

Best wishes to you also, it was an eye opener to see such reaction

you mean you HAVEN'T aproached other greek forums?

bloody racist snob :on_the_quiet:

hopefully with the permission of the admin of GC - because i am sure many are aware of how stupid some of these sites can get ... all moronicly protective and all that .... you know .... kinda like our politicians back home - divide and conquer mentality ...and then in the end all sink in the same boat kinda thing :on_the_quiet:

here are some of the places i visit
www.greektown.eu - Germany

www.hellenism.net - Canada

http://engforum.prav...he-greek-forum/ - russia

there are quite a few more - but wgo has the time to visit them all

of course there are the likes of "omogenia", "greek-turkish" and "topix" for example, and who the hell knows where they are based, but certainly many in the diaspora visit, let alone those back home
