Souvlaki, backgammon and greek coffee will be on offer today as Canberra's Greek community prepares to celebrate Glendi.
The event is part of the national Multicultural Festival which saw thousands descend on the city centre yesterday for a food and dance spectacular.
Other activities today include a gospel concert, Bulgarian folk dancing and Fringe festival performances.
Organiser Melba Tsaulias says the Greek Glendi is part of a long tradition for a people who have always liked a good time.
"As far back as ancient times, there's been historical evidence of the Greeks involved in feasts and celebrations and as far back as then there were pagan rituals and ceremonies," she said.
She says the Glendi is an essential event for the community.
"This is an opportunity for the Greek Community of Canberra to illustrate to the rest of the wider community how Greeks do celebrate their lives," she said.
"With passion and family friends, music, dancing and colourful performances."
